Tri-City Local News is a digital, independent news publication covering the communities of Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody, Belcarra, and Anmore.
Gagandeep Ghuman is the publisher of Tri-City Local News. He graduated from the School of Journalism at Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University) in Toronto in 2008. He interned at the Toronto Star and Guelph Mercury and worked with BBC journalist Daniel Lak on a documentary about the Toronto 18 terrorism case.
Before launching independent newspapers in Squamish and North Shore, he worked briefly at Parksville Qualicum Beach News and Squamish Chief. As a freelancer, his bylines have appeared in Pique Newsmagazine, Tyee, Vancouver Sun, and Globe and Mail. The Canadian Association of Journalists shortlisted him for their annual awards for his investigative stories on Squamish in 2010, 2011, and 2015. In 2013, the Ryerson Journalism Alumni Association also honoured him as a Headliner—one of 12 notable alumni who had made a mark in journalism.
