Port Moody will begin flushing water mains in the Heritage Woods, Heritage Mountain, and Noons Creek neighborhoods on Monday, March 3, 2025.
The maintenance work is expected to take approximately eight weeks.
During this period, residents and businesses may experience temporary water discolouration, pressure fluctuations, and sediment in their water supply. The City advises affected residents to run cold water in a bathtub or another large fixture until the water clears. These conditions are temporary and do not pose a health risk.
The City uses a uni-directional flushing process, which involves systematically closing valves and opening fire hydrants to create high water velocities that clean the interior walls of water mains. This method is more efficient and uses less water compared to traditional flushing techniques.
