Soda ash, commonly known as sodium carbonate (Na₂CO₃), is a water-soluble inorganic compound and a weak base that dissociates into sodium (Na) and carbonate (CO₃) ions in solution. It is an essential industrial chemical with applications across glass manufacturing, cleaning agents, water treatment, steel production, textiles, pulp and paper, food additives, renewable energy, and battery production.
While lithium carbonate currently represents a relatively small end-use for soda ash, demand from this application is growing rapidly, supported by the expansion of electric vehicles (EVs) and energy storage technologies.
